New Hire Spotlight: Allie McDowell, Social Media Manager

The frank Agency is excited to welcome Allie McDowell as the agency’s new Social Media Manager! To help us get to know Allie better we asked her a few questions about herself, her career aspirations – and a few fun personal things, too!

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? A photographer! I went to art school for a semester and got scared out of the career when I had to attend a presentation by an amazing photographer that was living out of his car.

How did you end up working in social media? In college we were assigned to help a local business by running a Google Adwords campaign for them. I worked pretty closely with the business owner and offered to set up Facebook and Twitter accounts for his other local businesses. He then hired me to run the social media for his businesses, and I got to learn first-hand how beneficial social media was becoming for brands. Fast-forward five years and I’m still loving the ever-evolving world of social media.

What initially drew you to The frank Agency? I really liked Brett and Andrew’s excitement to grow a social media team at TfA. I also love how close the employees are with each other. You really feel like part of a family the moment you walk in the door. AND – there was an espresso machine!

And now for some fun personal things…

Any embarrassing or unusual interests? Shia Lebouf and 90s pop culture – I’m really good at that category of Heads Up.

Desert Island Top Five: If you were stuck on an island, what are the top five movies or books would you want to bring? If I brought a book, I’d probably burn it before I actually read it. So I’d probably bring movies, but does this mean I have to bring a TV as well? Anyway, I’d bring Almost Famous, Forrest Gump, Cast Away (mostly for tips on surviving on a desert island), all the Harry Potter movies and Mean Girls.

Your favorite TV show as a child? Even Stevens – remember that weird interest in Shia Lebouf? This is where it all started.

Favorite phone app? Instagram, because it brings my two loves together, social media and photography.

If you won the lottery, what would you do with the winnings? I’d buy a lot of puppies and open a nacho food truck.

If you could choose anyone in the world to have dinner with, who would it be and why? My whole family. My mom, dad and sister live in Illinois, where I grew up, so we don’t get to share too many meals together anymore. I’d love to share a meal with my entire immediate family, in-laws included.
