Promotion Spotlight: John Ring to Senior Software Engineer

""

The frank Agency is proud to announce the promotion of John Ring to Senior Software Engineer! John first came to The frank Agency 9½ years ago. Drawn to the agency for its variety of projects – as well as the software languages he would have the potential to learn – John started out as a Software Engineer 1. Upon his promotion, VP of IT Services Kevin Altis said:

“John continuously demonstrates his technical and communication skills across many different types of projects. His development skills encompass every type of IT project we do, from mobile apps to websites. His latest accomplishments include both development and technical lead roles in a major website project. In this project, John has done an outstanding job working across multiple internal teams and directly with client resources to define, develop and deliver technical solutions. And John has spearheaded this effort while continuing to stay involved in other projects as necessary.”

We recently sat down with John to talk about his time at The frank Agency, what he’s learned in his almost 10 years here, and what he’s looking forward to in his new role.

How did you come to work in software engineering?

I went to college to get a degree in either electrical engineering or computer graphics. But multivariable calculus turned out to not be my friend, and the only professor teaching computer graphics went on sabbatical my freshman year. So I changed to programming.

What have you learned during your time at The frank Agency? What do you think has been your biggest accomplishment here so far?

This is the smallest company I have worked at, yet I have learned three or four times as many new software languages as anywhere else. I think my biggest accomplishment has been to keep track of all of them and not get overwhelmed. Occasionally confused yes, but not overwhelmed.

What do you hope to accomplish in your new role as a Senior Software Engineer?

I want to help more with getting software projects completed successfully, on-time, and as painlessly as possible, whether by writing code or coordinating developer tasks, or making things easier for non-technical folks. And maybe learn a few more software languages, too!

Please join us in congratulation John on this well-deserved promotion!
