Established in 1981, we are a fast-paced, fun advertising agency located in Overland Park, Kansas. We’re seeking a Copywriter to fill an important function within our agency.

Job Description:

Responsible for writing clear, original copy in a unique voice for all media channels.  Works as a team with an art director.  Assists with special projects and/or performs special tasks when assigned.

Specific Tasks/Responsibilities:

  • Develop marketing copy written on the audience’s level with the customer’s terminology so that the client’s sales message is readily received.
    • Ability to quickly and efficiently interpret copywriting briefs and comprehend project requirements.
    • Conduct research to develop an understanding of the client’s product/service, needs and challenges.
    • Writes clear, concise copy that engages the reader and reflects the brand’s voice.
    • Ability to use different language styles that appeal to various target markets.
    • Produces error-free content that adheres to the client’s style guidelines.
    • Identifies and communicates the main idea the reader should feel or do.
    • Connects text to visual and design seamlessly.
    • Ability to quickly and accurately edit and proofread copy, as needed
  • Collaborates with designers, account service, new business and interactive professionals at a mastery level on both large and small scale projects (e.g. email campaigns, landing pages, ads).
    • Ability to sell and define ideas, while remaining open to feedback and constructive criticism.
    • Superb communication skills needed to conduct high-quality research and necessary interviews.
  • Organizes workload for efficient time management and meets multiple scheduled deadlines on time.
    • Plans and prioritizes work to meet deadlines for assignments.
  • Uses SEO principles to maximize the reach of copy generated—proficient with content tools like plagiarism checker.

Special Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to work fast and independently.

  • Mastery of MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to keep pace in a deadline-driven environment across multiple projects.
  • Strong ability to prioritize work based upon short and long-term needs.
  • Familiarity with commonly used style guides.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Journalism is preferred.
  • Previous writing experience (3 to 5 years), preferably in an advertising/marketing agency, required.
