Job Description:

The Staff Accountant performs a variety of accounting functions.  These functions include GL reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, account analysis reports and special projects as needed.

Specific Tasks/Responsibilities:

  • Prepare billing documents and worksheets in preparation for monthly billing cycle.
  • Train and assist account service employees with the billing process.
  • Monitor accounts receivable aging to ensure payments from clients are received on time. Work with account service to resolve past due invoices.
  • Enter cash receipts into accounting software.
  • Process accounts payable transactions, obtain approval on vendor invoices and assist vendors with payment issues.
  • Maintain daily cash reconciliations.
  • Maintain account reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts
  • Track company credit card charges and reconcile statements.
  • Assist with special accounting projects when needed.
  • Prepare time off reports. Make sure employees are current with time entries and provide ongoing support for employees with questions regarding time off balances.
  • Prepare and enter monthly recurring journal entries for all prepaid expenses.
  • Assist HR with miscellaneous tasks (worker’s comp audit, vacation accrual report and annual census reporting).
  • Calculate and pay quarterly sales and use tax.
  • Manage media payables. Ensure clients are billed and paid according to billing schedule.

Special Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with 1-3 years related experience.
  • 10-key by touch.
  • Basic accounting knowledge.
  • Computer experience.
  • Numerical aptitude with good analytical skills.
  • Must be organized and a good communicator with solid problem solving skills.
  • Must have the ability to work well under pressure with little supervision.
